My England No Good
Just referring back to the recent hotline, Maths and Science are back to BM! AFTER 6 YEARS! so i'm sure you'll be asking, what kind of nonsense is this? first in malay language, then to english, and now back to malay. It's like, they're playing with our education. I mean, how far does BM actually goes?
Higher education around Malaysia are mostly taught in English. Reference books in the library are in English. International language is english. And if students plans to pursue their studies overseas, its in English.
BM are like, only used here in Malaysia? Not critisizing BM here but, look at the current level of English here in Malaysia, it's low, honestly. And if those high up people keep telling us to compete at international standards, then of course our education in the beginning have to be at international standards. It's like, you're trying to build KL tower using woods instead of cement. How far can you go with wood? It can bring you to a certain level and that's it, no more further. It's just an example.
And i read on a newspaper today, Five Million Malaysian Youth in Danger. Will we be Outclassed?
You wanna know what i think? I think yes, we will be. If nothing is done to our education. Countries like China, Vietnam, Indonesia are beefing up their education, having open door policies, running projects like Skills Training ofr Youth Employment in Indonesia(EAST) and here's Thailand's education system:
To provide their youth with a head start in career life, secoodary schoool students in Thailand are streamlined to help prepare them for the careers they would undertake in the future.
They would earlier be graded based on their preformance in the many subjects; an apitude test is given. results would determine if they would do well in a cretain industry, say tourism, engineering etc.
Suitable subjects would have been tailored to suit the different classes for the different industries, thus moulding students into becoming "specialists: from a very young age.
And another extract from it,
'while the rest of the worldis develping youth policies that will equip their youth for the future, we are still looking at what language our school syllabuses should be in'
i just hope that those high up people will come to realize that the current education has been a failure and they better buck up if they want to see Malaysia survive or emerge in the future.
